Nomadic cinema

And there is another incredible idea coming from no less than Japan! *not surprised at all*

I recently run into blog made by a girl living in Japan and written in English. Best combination ever! I really enjoy reading things about Japan written by a mere citizen of the country. To add more to that, I run into this revolutionary idea and to add more to that I have to add to that idea, although somebody will remember it in ten years and get tons of money for it.

All in all, this project's goals are showed here:

By what I read, when you get into this movie's 'territory' you get a smartphone which basically leads you trough this adventure. It detects your location and plays certain themes and background songs as you walk around the field. As you walk trough the first scene you can watch the girl dreaming of being a singer meeting a lady in a park and talking about her wishes.

Here the movie scene was projected on one of the tree containers. This fit really well, considering how the scene was about the young girl now burying her treasures. She is with a young woman. Not sure what they talk about together. On one of the other tree containers there was a picture of the Nomadic Cinema logo that worked in a similar way as QR-code I believe. When you went to camera mode on the phone and aimed at the logo, the logo would change into a picture of the box that the girl buried. I thought this was really nice, since it gave the illusion of the box being in that particular container under the tree, kind of like it was an x-ray of some sort.

I suggest to those interested to read the rest from her blog, since I wanted to concentrate on something else. Before that, there are few trailers for this awesome experience:

Now then, I think much could be added to this experience, by making it a theater instead of movie story. Being in a certain location, surrounded by right sounds, objects, weather and stuff doesn't add as much to the feeling if actors themselves aren't there. Watching it on a smartphone really ruins everything! I know it's probably expensive enough to visit the movie like this (especially if you're not from Japan, as most of us) and that it takes a lot of space and that paying actors would be just an additional cost, but I still despair to see it performed like that and I'm sure there are tons of people agreeing with me, which is already good for marketing. ;)

Whichever the case, I hope somebody finds this article informative and useful, or even inspirational. I really think it's a great idea to go for an actual field instead of 3D, holograms and similar things. Feeling of interaction helps us feel the movie, see how characters felt in given situations, not to talk about natural 'special effects'.

I can only say I hope this will become popular practice around the world, since I really want to see it!
